Cut is the most important factor influencing a diamond's brilliance. It refers to how precisely a diamond's facets are crafted and proportioned to reflect light. A beautifully cut diamond maximizes sparkle, fire, and scintillation, revealing the true beauty hidden within the stone.

Often confused with shape, cut is not whether a diamond is round or oval, but how expertly it has been fashioned to achieve optimal light performance and visual appeal.

Common Cut Grades

  • Excellent: Exceptional brilliance and maximum light return.
  • Very: GoodOutstanding sparkle with minor differences from the highest grade.
  • Good: Beautiful appearance with balanced quality and value.
  • Fair: Moderate brilliance with noticeable light loss.
  • Poor: Limited sparkle due to less effective proportions and symmetry.

Diamond color measures the absence of color within a stone. The less color a diamond displays, the rarer and more valuable it becomes. While completely colorless diamonds are highly prized, near-colorless diamonds often offer exceptional beauty and value. Beyond the traditional scale, naturally occurring fancy colored diamonds are treasured for their rarity and distinctive appeal.

  • D – Z: From completely colorless to noticeable color.

Color Grades Explained

  • D–F: Colorless Exceptionally rare with no visible color.
  • G–J: Near Colorless A beautiful balance of brilliance and value.
  • K–M: Faint Color Subtle warmth that becomes slightly noticeable.
  • N–Z: Visible Color Increasing traces of color visible to the eye.

DIAMOND CLARITY

Every diamond is uniquely formed beneath the earth, developing natural characteristics that make it one of a kind. Known as inclusions and blemishes, these internal and external features determine a diamond's clarity grade. Evaluated under 10× magnification, clarity helps reveal the rarity and individuality of each stone.

Clarity Scale

  • FL – Flawless No inclusions or blemishes visible under 10× magnification.
  • IF – Internally Flawless No internal inclusions, with only minor surface characteristics.
  • VVS1 / VVS2 – Very Very Slightly Included Minute inclusions that are extremely difficult to detect.
  • VS1 / VS2 – Very Slightly Included Minor inclusions that are difficult to see under magnification.
  • SI1 / SI2 – Slightly Included Noticeable inclusions under magnification, often invisible to the naked eye.
  • I1 / I2 / I3 – Included Inclusions visible under magnification and, in some cases, to the unaided eye.
